Change of plan

A quiet day today, with a couple of meetings and a bit of work, and a bit of not going to a biennale event after it changed the starting time for the third time, this time a couple of hours before the actual starting time, which did not leave me confident that it would start on this third time.

The GF is in Bali where I refused to go because of my loathing for the cryptobro-influencer-yogi crowd that has infested it since the pandemic. The yogis were in full force when I went there a few years ago, the influencers were on the rise, and now, by all accounts, Jordon Petersen stans are all over the place. Which is why I’m in Lahore. But we’re now thinking that for the second half of the course maybe I will go there after all. I don’t want to stay in Lahore that long, I don’t think, and maybe if we have our own place I can avoid the worst of the other people. Maybe. I will still have to work till 10 or 11 at night three days a week, but that is better than in Vietnam a couple of years ago, when I did this every night.

I’m missing Almaty, and Bangkok a couple of years ago. Rare islands of feeling like I was living on my own terms. Hard to imagine I left Almaty less than a month ago. It feels like another lifetime.

Meanwhile my Rome trip is looking likely to be at the end of November.

As part of my preparations for Bali, I tried renewing my driving license. Turns out, one needs to remember the driving license number, which I don’t.
